Patterned endpapers, full-page engravings, illustrations, photographs, index, appendix. Covers are soiled and lightly bowed, there is a thin 3 / 4-inch chip to the spine, and there is a previous owner's ink stamp on the front free endpaper. "In preparing this work I have been much indebted to the books of Langstroth, Quinby, Prof. Cook, King, and some others, as well as to all the Bee-Journals; but, more than to all these, have I been indebted to the thousands of friends scattered far and wide, who had so kindly furnished the fullest particulars in regard to all the new improvements, as they have come up, in our beloved branch of rural industry" - from the Preface by A.
