Description: 308, [32] pp. Illustrated with wood engravings. 25.5x15.8 cm (10x6¼"), brown pebble cloth lettered in black with gilt honey bee vignette on cover, spine lettered in gilt. Second edition.
Second edition of the bible of American bee-keeping. The book has been so influential it is now in its 42nd edition. Amos Ives Root (1839–1923) founded the A.I. Root company, a bee-keeping supply and candle company in 1869. It is still in business today.
Condition: Gilt lettering faded somewhat on spine, some rubbing and wear; hinges cracked or starting, endpapers somewhat brittle with a few minor chips or tears; very good.
