The Pilgrim's Progress from This World, to That Which Is to Come is a 1678 Christian allegory written by John Bunyan. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious, theological fiction in English literature. It has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print. It appeared in Dutch in 1681, in German in 1703 and in Swedish in 1727. The first North American edition was issued in 1681. It has also been cited as the first novel written in English. Bunyan began his work while in the Bedfordshire county prison for violations of the Conventicle Act of 1664, which prohibited the holding of religious services outside the auspices of the established Church of England. One of a limited edition of 300 copies. Illustrated title page. The diary reproduced here is from 1910-1911, when its author, later known as F. Scott Fitzgerald, was 13 and 14. In Near Fine Condition: slight discoloration on endpapers; otherwise, clean and bright. Glassine dust jacket is in Very Good Condition: closed tears from upper edge of back ection; spine slightly sunned.

Brown leather-like fabric bound cover with gilt embossed lettering, embossed cover detail, and 5 raised bands on spine; gold red and dark brown. This has a lot of shelf wear, front cover edges are rubbed and chipped. The spine has been rubbed and corners bumped. Spine is straight. Binding is tight. Red marbled end sheets and paste downs are clean and bright. Title page and index page have multiple creases and tears but the print is readable. Contents are in very good condition. Thumbed index tabs. Page edges have a lot of dust. All reference pages are clean and not marked

These two books have been rebound as one; Hardcover; Bound by New Method Book Bindery Inc.; Front and back covers show minimal wear with a couple of bent corners; Inside front cover has a small sticker on the bottom right from the binding company; Both title pages have a previous owner's name at the top in ink; First book is 62 pages long and includes original foldout map in like new condition and an additional map page; Second book is 370 pages long and includes illustrations; There is no separator between the two books; Spine title and author are stamped in gold; Previous owner's initials are stamped in gold at the bottom of the spine; Pages are clean; Binding is tight.
