From the Dust Jacket: "This volume describes and illustrates 283 drawings by Italian artists of the eighteenth century in the museum's collection. Entries for the drawings provide essential bibliographical references, provenance, and a discussion of the purpose of the drawing, when known. The Venetian school is particularly well represented, and the collection comprises splendid groups of drawings by Francesco Guardi, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, and his son Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo. The other major artistic centers of the time - Bologna, Florence, Genoa, Naples, and Rome - are all included, with fine drawings by Gaetano, Mauro, and Ubaldo Gandolfi, by Giovanni Domenico Ferretti, Lorenzo de Ferrari, Francesco de Mura, Pompeo Batoni, and Giovanni Paolo Panini, to name but a few of the more than ninety artists whose works are reproduced in this volume." . Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole.
