About This Item

London England: The National Gallery, 1986. Catalogue. Slightly sunned spine to cover. This catalogue deals with all the seventeenth - and eighteenth - century Italian pictures in the National Gallery; it range is approcimately from Annibale Carracci to Zuccarelli. The portion dealing with eighteenth-century pictures is in part a revision of the catalogue published in 1956, but several important pictures coming with the century have been acquired since that catalogue was published. The omission of one or two pictures previously published catalogued is explicable by their having been returned to the Victoria and Albert Museum, from which they had long been on loan. At the end of the catalogue is a list of pictures included here, as well as a list of attributions changed from earlier general catalogues. Under the biographical notices I have sometimes mentioned a work of reference but I have not attempted to provide documentation of biographical facts. Dates of buildings and monuments in and around Venice, quoted in the text of view paintings, usually derive from G. Lorenzetti, Venezia e il suo Estuario, 1956 ed. unless otherwise stated. 264 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.) . Reprint. Soft Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Catalogue.
