Salem Female Academy, 1864. Ephemera. Good. rare Confederate Imprint. Reward Notice (180mm high x 230mm wide), issued on behalf of the Salem Female Academy in 1864 by Robert De Schweinitz, Principal of the Academy between 1853-66. In overall good used condition with some minor signs of age, handling and storage - a single sheet, folded at some stage, with a little foxing and soiling, stain to centre and an unrepaired 4cm tear. Framed in a simple glazed gilt frame. A unique record of daily life in the Confederacy towards the end of the American Civil War: 100 Dollars REWARD! I will pay the above sum for such information and proof as will convict the person or persons who stole TEN SHEETS from beds in the dormitories of S. F. Academy, on the evening of the 27th January.
