About This Item

Leiden: , c1707. Trinity College, Cambridge, was founded by Henry VIII in 1546. It was formed by the merger of two existing, much older, medieval halls; King's Hall (1317) and Michaelhouse (1324). Nevil's Court was created via a bequest by one of the masters of Trinity College, Thomas Nevil (1593-1615). This delightful pair of octavo engravings are based on the earlier and larger work entitled Cantabrigia Illustrata (1690) by the English baroque engraver, draughtsman and painter, David Loggan. It was produced by James Beeverall, in Les Delices de la Grande Bretagne and published in Leiden by Pieter van der Aa. Size: 155 x 180 mm each. Copperplate engravings. Slightly toned but in good condition.
