"The Wild, Wild Planet," was the first film in Antonio Margheriti's "Gamma One Quadrilogy," followed by "The War of the Planets" (1966), "War Between the Planets" (1966) and "The Snow Devils" (1967) which uniquely established the Italian space and sci-fi genre of the 1960s. Originally filmed for the Italian television series "Fantascienza," the low budget series stands out for its unique color use and ambitious set model design by Production Designer Piero Poletto.
It's 2015 and mad scientist Dr. Nurmi (Massimo Serato) is having alien girls shrink and kidnap world leaders for his plan to create a perfect race. Our hero, rogue commander Mike Halstead (Tony Russell) comes to the rescue to save the kidnapped including his girlfriend, Lt. Connie Gomez (Lisa Gastoni) before Nurmi completes an operation fusing her body with his to create a half man/half woman superbeing.
