Illustrated with 67 figures of totem poles. Their preservation was begun late, in 1938, by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Garfield was a U. Washington anthropologist, who collected the lore behind the carvings, and Forrest was the Regional Architect for the U. S. Forest Service, who headed the totem pole restoration project.
