Dead End Game Paperback - 2014
by Christopher Newman
From the publisher
Acclaimed for his authentic Precinct novels, author Christopher Newman presents another thriller starring Detective Lieutenant Joe Dante and his partner, Jumbo Richardson, of the NYPD.
As powerful as a nine-millimeter and as dramatic as the New York skyline, Dead End Game is a hard-hitting tale of life on the force-and death on the streets...
When a major-league pitcher is found dead of an overdose just before the last game of the league playoffs, the first assumption is suicide. Joe Dante and Jumbo Richardson think otherwise. And their investigation reveals that behind the all-American game lies a world of dirty money and deceit-and a cast of suspects who don't hesitate to play hardball.

About the author
Born in San Francisco, California, Christopher Newman wrote the first draft of his third published novel, Manana Man, while in residence in Cali, Colombia his senior year in college. At 27, he moved to New York City, working as a trim carpenter for five years in Manhattan before publishing his first Joe Dante novel, Mid-Town South, in 1985. When that title met with considerable commercial success, his publisher convinced him to turn his protagonist into a series character. Eight more Joe Dante novels followed, all making various national best seller lists. Mid-Town North, published in 1991, was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award by the Mystery Writers of America. Chains of Command, left unfinished at the time of best-selling author William Caunitz' death in 1998, was completed by Mr. Newman at the estate's request. It was named a 1999 New York Times Notable Book of the Year.

Book Conditions Explained
Biblio’s Book Conditions
-
As NewThe book is pristine and free of any defects, in the same condition as when it was first newly published.
-
Fine (F)A book in fine condition exhibits no flaws. A fine condition book closely approaches As New condition, but may lack the crispness of an uncirculated, unopened volume.
-
Near Fine (NrFine or NF)Almost perfect, but not quite fine. Any defect outside of shelf-wear should be noted.
-
Very Good (VG)A used book that does show some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Very good items should not have writing or highlighting.
-
Good (G or Gd.)The average used and worn book that has all pages or leaves present. ‘Good’ items often include writing and highlighting and may be ex-library. Any defects should be noted. The oft-repeated aphorism in the book collecting world is “good isn’t very good.”
-
FairIt is best to assume that a “fair” book is in rough shape but still readable.
-
Poor (P)A book with significant wear and faults. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. Any missing pages must be specifically noted.
