As a former newspaper man, foreign correspondent, magazine editor, novelist, screenwriter, and author, Burton Wohl could hardly be a less likely candidate for pioneer living on a wilderness island in Canadaas western rainforest. But a dozen years of Los Angeles smog, Beverly Hills traffic snarls and the mind-blowing frenzy of Hollywood movie studios sent him ultimately flying in search of peace, quiet and sanity. All of which were to be found on Read Island, a small, richly forested patch of wilderness on Canadaas western shoreaa hundred miles or so north of Vancouver.
