Going In A Different Direction: The Most Epic Resignation of All Time Paperback - 2018

by Ray D. Martin

From the publisher

Inspired by a True Story. When Howard, leader, mentor and friend to the staff at M Fisher Financial is suddenly 'retired' from his position, it marks the beginning of a change in the way the company does business and looks after its employees. Gone are the principles of leadership, respect and value for the staff, replaced by a management team with no industry experience, who create a culture of fear and random firings, always accompanied by the 'we are going in a different direction, ' standard excuse. Amid these new principles one member of the workforce, top salesman Ray Martin, finds his voice and openly challenges the new practices, making himself a target of his new boss and her team of puppet managers in the process. Now, with his career imploding and on the verge of a complete nervous breakdown, Ray must take some risky steps to protect his ability to provide for his family before he loses everything. But is the sudden offer of a new job all that it seems? Or is Ray about to embark on something that, far from saving his reputation, may completely destroy it?

About the author

"Life is ten percent of what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it..." - Lou Holtz Ray D. Martin grew up in a small Florida town and joined the Army at the age of just 17, determined to do something with his life. After serving, he attended the University of Central Florida, from which he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. Since then, Ray has spent more than two decades working in corporate America, mostly as a high-powered sales executive. He is known for his innovative and visionary thinking and continues to thrive as a leader in his chosen field. Some years ago, Ray encountered a problem at work where several managers were found to be cheating their employees. The issues raised by the experience and the way it was eventually resolved inspired Ray to publish his first book, based around what happened. When he has some free time, Ray loves to get creative in the kitchen and occasionally takes classes to improve his skills. He is also a competition quality barbeque chef and loves cooking for friends and family or smoking BBQ for charitable causes. He also loves to travel, having caught the bug on a trip around Europe when he finished college, and each summer he plans road trips with his family. Ray also devotes time to helping others and serves on the Board of Directors at a school he helped to found. Today, Ray lives in Florida with his wife, two boys and their dogs.
