You are an intelligent lizard. Your race is ancient. Its physical sciences and engineering accomplishments were once much higher than they are now. You are fortunate to belong to a tiny upper class on your world. You are wealthy. You can fly about in rich air-vehicles. Beneath you is a vast majority of fellow-lizards, poor, starving, oppressed. For thousands of years you have been aware of two parallel universes (of the millions that exist) that are remarkably close to your world. Every few thousand years gateways between the three worlds open. Two of those worlds are populated by humans. ***** Lizards can gain access to the two human worlds if and only if humans accept the fact that non-human aliens exist and seek contact. One world is so minded. The other is not. In the first world, though still a minority, lizards have succeeded in taking on human forms (despite the pain that only powerful drugs can control). Lizards in disguise are in virtual control, for instance, of the U. S. Air Force. They have created a laboratory deep underground in Colorado where they store human souls which they have learned to separate from their bodies. As forecast by the Mayan calendar, after December 21, 2012, the gateways between the three worlds will slam shut for another several thousand years. Yet we lizards are starving and human flesh is very tasty. We are also overpopulated. Our civilization is in decline. There is a small fraction among us opposed to the status quo. They do not want us to invade both human worlds, as we are about to do. ***** The two parallel human worlds are so close that two families share essentially the same house and environs in Kansas. One father of a family in non-believing world three is a writer. Compulsively,he knows nod why, he writes about strange lizards and their doings. Could he be a lizard himself, whose novels of alien abductions are designed to convince men of the existence of aliens? If so, and if he succeeds, then the lizard invasion will be unstoppable. So far, however, humans in this third universe are not generally open to flying saucers and alien abductions. Or was he perhaps planted in world three by the tiny minority of ethical lizards opposed to invasion and imperialism? ***** That is all about to change.
