London: Faber & Faber Ltd, 1968 336pp inc colour frontis, 75 Cutting Diagrams, 54 Tailors' Patterns and 71 monochrome plates, also index, bibliography, lists of diagrams, patterns and of plates - Waugh was a lecturer and supervisor of practical work on historical costume in the Theatre Department of the Central School of Art and Design in London. In the late 1930s. She later took charge of costume at the London Theatre Studio run by Michel Saint-Denis. She died in Spring 1966 while this book was in preparation, Woodward, who did the cutting diagrams and cutting patterns, was also editor of the book and completed work on it prior to publication. <P> The author presents an in-depth review of the clothing styles of men from the 1600s to the early 20th century. <P> Covers (faded red cloth, or maybe it was light orange to begin with, and gilt titles to black background to top of spine) are edgeworn (severe at top of spine) and soiled.
