About This Item

Englewood, CO: Dewey M. Taft, 1946. Newsletter. Two issues of the newsletter, 7.25x10 inches, 8 and 4 pages respectively, "Native Fascist" penciled in corners, paper toned, otherwise very good. Issues present are vol. 4 no. 2/3 and vol. 5 no. 1. Includes articles on local appearances by far-right speakers, allegations of local teachers having connections to the Communist Party, critiques of the postwar trials of war criminals, and more. The ADL's report, "Anti-Semitism in the United States in 1947," reported soon after this that "Dewey McKinley Taft, a small-fry anti-Semite for many years, had almost no following and seemed to have given up control of Englewood Forum. He frequently dropped publication responsibilities of one insignificant newspaper in order to create another, his last being The Suburban Citizen, which he published in Sheridan, Col." (p. 50).
