The compartments decorated, ruled and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Original publishers spine is bound in at the rear. An attractive copy of the first volume in Powell's Dance to the Music of Time series.

Macmillan and Co. Limited. London. 1922. FIRST U.K EDITION. 8vo. Previous owners neat inscription, dated Xmas 1922, on the front free endpaper. Both sets of endpapers with some offsetting, mostly to the margins and possibly a reaction to the glue used in the book's production. Publishers blue cloth with title and Author on the front board, within two ruled borders, all in dark blue. Spine lettered and ruled in gilt. A near fine copy of the book in a very good original dustwrapper with price of 7/6s on the spine. Some chipping to the top of the spine and a couple of small chips to the top edge of the rear panel. Overall a better than very good copy.

William Heinemann Ltd. London. 1935. FIRST EDITION. 8vo.(8.2 x 6.3 inches). Neat previous owners name, dated vi, 35, on the front free endpaper otherwise this is a near fine copy in the original black cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt to the spine. The front board with the Author's symbol, lettering and decorative floral border, all in gilt. The rear board with the publishers Windmill logo blind stamped. The gilt and the cloth are still very bright and fresh. In the uncommon original dustwrapper, which reproduces the book front cover and spine in gold on black paper, with 8/6 price still intact on the front inner flap. Lower panel has list of works by Maugham printed in black on white. Loss to the top and bottom of the wrapper, not affecting the lettering. A couple of V shaped chipsbut generally a very ngood dustwrapper on a near fine book. Stott A49a.

Gilt lettering to the spine. Front board with raised circular Ganesha device in gilt. Top edge gilt. In the rare original dustwrapper, with repeat pattern of Macmillan double M design over the whole surface and red lettering to the spine and both outer panels. Lower panel has correct publisher adverts, as listed in David Alan Richards' Bibliography of Kipling. Inner flaps with repeat Macmillan design but nothing else. The cloth and gilt are bright and fresh. Some spotting to the fore edge of the pages and a few leaves affected with fairly mild foxing, mostly to the margins and away from the text. The inner hinges are cracked but holding firm and a slight lean to the spine, otherwise a very good copy of the book in a very good dustwrapper with some minor chipping to the extremities and the spine a bit darkened. Two pages with minor blemishes but overall a bright and clean copy in the original colour printed dustwrapper, which reproduces the board illustrations and lettering. Some minor bumping to the board edges. One small closed tear (less than 1 inch) to the bottom front hinge of the wrapper, which also has some light creasing to the edges but overall this is a superior copy of the notoriously rare book. ---- A better than very good First edition of Judith Kerr's first, and most beloved book. One small, faint mark to the title page otherwise a near fine copy which is bright and clean throughout. Publishers yellow cloth with black lettering to the spine and front board, which also has an illustration of Mary Poppins. Illustrated endpapers. In the original illustrated grey dustwrapper which is split in two but is currently held together in a removable wrapper protector. There is some loss to the top and bottom of the spine and a large closed tear to the front panel with a small amount of loss. Small and neat booksellers label (Zeitlin Books of Los Angeles) to the rear pastedown endpaper. Overall a near fine book, with a little bumping to the top of the spine, in a good example of the scarce dustwrapper that is quite clean and more then 95% complete, so could easily be restored to it's former glory.
