"Films and Filming" was a highly regarded film magazine that frequently eschewed the usual box office fodder in favor cult and arthouse films, and in particular films with LGBTQ interest. First published in 1951 by Philip Dosse as a stablemate to his other magazines on the arts, Peter Brinson was brought on as the first editor, successfully editing the magazine to appeal to the gay market at a time when homosexuality was still a criminal offense in Britain.
