Imprinted at London by Rober Barker, Printer to the Kings most Excellent Maiestie, 1608. 0. 4to. 9.00" x 6.75" x 2.00". A very good early full leather binding. This bible did have Judas for Jesus (John vi. 67). However someone has made an early correction using black ink. So Judas now reads Jesus.The front board has been replaced with a slightly thinner and plainer one. Hinges and corners carefully strengthened. professionally rebacked preserving the original spine and old red leather title label: "Beza's Bible." Spine with 5 raised bands. Modern marbled endpapers at the beginning and old marbled endpapers at the rear. The book begins with a blank leaf marked "A". Followed by an engraved general title with heat-shaped centre, verso blank Just one small hole (0.5") in the image of Luke. "To the Christian Reader." with: "Of the incomparable Treasure...." to the verso. Followed by "How to take profit in reading the holy Scriptures" and "...Names and Order of all the Bookes..." to verso. Followed by: Clean roman-letter text throughout, with good margins. The Apocrypha is present. The engraved New Testament title is present and dated 1608, verso blank. Followed by; "The Printer to the diligent Reader. " The verso with a map and "The Description of the Holy Land... ". Clean New Testament text. "The Order Of Time... inserted before "The Revelation..." Bound with: "A briefe Table of the interpretation...", ending with colophon dated 1608. A well preserved 400 year old book! Referenced by Herbert 295; Darlow & Moule 2228; Wing STC 2204. .
