Theology For Skeptics

A book often assigned, it seems, to college and graduate students, and for good reaon. Soelle (or Solle with umlaut on the o) is a writer of deep morality and clear insight. She connects the main nerves of the Bible to the human issues of our own time. She is the sort of person that you would be very glad to have met and had a chance to have your own understanding refreshed and redirected where necessary. I'm very glad that I found this title by her. Could be compared to Karl Barth for theplogical force. She takes many fewer words, however, to make her point. Or comparable to Thomas Merton, but she is in the midst of our times, not in a monastery.
