Meet Aiden Thomas: lonely, depressed, overweight and pretty much afraid of his own shadow... the perfect candidate for knighthood in a parallel universe. After being dragged halfway across America away from his only friend to look after his eccentric grandfather, Aiden isn’t happy to say the least. But when he discovers three ancient scrolls in the old man’s basement and the key to the Door Within, everything changes.Wayne Thomas Batson has written a fantastical allegoric masterpiece. The writing is a little rough around the edges, but still pretty good for a first time author. The characters are relatable, the action is intense and the allegory is at the perfect level of subtlety. But best of all, The Door Within is just a really, really good story. The Door Within is everything Christian fantasy should be... and then some.

Wow. This book is great. Enough battles and peril to satisfy the adventure-lover, enough secrets to satisfy the mystery-lover, and enough coolness to satisfy the... well, cool-lover!All around great. Granted, some might see it as "just another fantasy book", but it most certainly has characteristics that distinguish it from others in its genre. For instance, there is an unlikely connection between Earth and The Realm... but I won't spoil that for you. :-D Also, there is a good dose of Biblical allegory, enough to inspire and appeal to Christian readers, yet not so much that the books would be termed "preachy" by most non-Christians. It would still be a marvelous book even without these themes. This is also a welcome addition to the book world because, by almost all standards, it is clean. I have tried many other fantasy tales and been sorely disappointed by inappropriate words and references. This book is emotional, as well. Beloved characters die, yet even in those times, there is hope...I will mention that its main downside would be, in my opinion, the fact that there were a grammar issues that I found distracting. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the plot and characters so much that I still am giving this book all five stars.Dragons, knights, sieges, tornadoes, mazes, traitors and lantern spiders. Find all this and more... if you choose to enter the door within.-whisper

In this epic beginning to an epic series, Aidan Thomas must learn to accept what is happening to him. When he moves away from his friends and everything he knows, he is torn. Until he finds another world told about in some scrolls he finds the basement. Scrolls that will change his life, forever. Come along and meet new friends that will forever remain in your memories. Like King Eliam, Nock, Bolt, among many others :D

The Door within Trilogy, which is written by Wayne Thomas Batson, and he is a really amazing author,if you ask me. The Book is about These 3 people who go to a Fantasy world, at different times, where they are chosen to defend and protect, and obey the King. The titles of the books are"The Door Within", "Rise of the Wyrm Lord", and "The Final Storm". The main character is Aiden Thomas, and he is very miserable because he moves and has to live with his Grandfather because he is in a Wheelchair, but then Aiden is somehow pulled to these Ancient Scrolls in His Grandfather's Basementso he goes on an Adventure, where he trains to be a Knight,As one of the Three witnesses,His name is"Seeker of The Lost", and He meets Glimpses, which are Humanoid Natives of That world, that which have alot of the same characteristics of people in Aiden's world, they are also kinda connected to them as well. If the Glimpse changes sides, it effects The human of themselves in Aiden's world They have white skin, and eyes that depending on which side they are on, If on King Eliam's side, the King of Alleble, their eyes are Blue, if they are with Paragor, the Bad Guy, their eyes are Red, and if They don't choose a side, their eyes are Green. Antionette is a girl who meets Aiden in a class, and they become friends , because they had the same interest in King Eliam's world, but I think , really they met because King Eliam wanted them to, she is trained in Fencing, her Glimpse is Gwenne. Her sword is Thorinsagaet. As one of the three witnesses, her name as that is "Child of Storms". Robby is one of the Three Witnesses, he is Aiden's best friend, he is trained to be a Knight, and becomes one of Twelve, His witness name is " Dragonfriend", his sword was "wyrmfel".There are so many amazing characters in these books, they are so well described, and I can imagineevery character, I really love the atmosphere of Alleble. There seem to be some references in the books from The Bible. Wayne Thomas Batson's Biblical reference, and Fantasy theme, are so well put together, described, and written, from what I have read, Wayne put alot of thought into his booksand it has definetly paid off, his books have caught the eyes of alot of readers, young and old. There is even a little humor in The Door Within Trilogy! There was nothing that I didn't like about The Door Within. I couldn't wait to get my hands on these books, once I finally did, I couldn't put them down. Aiden was an unlikely hero, but he proved worthy, and he got the greatest reward, I won't tellyou what it is, you have to read the books to find out.

My favorite scene would probably be when Aidan pulls everything he learned on his trip together in a super-creative way to trick the enemy's forces. It involves sacrifice, bravery, and lantern spiders. Some scenes seemed a little awkward, which is understandable since this series was written before Isle of Fire and Isle of Swords. Also, the whole idea of the story seemed very familiar. The idea of twins in another realm reminded me a little bit of the Circle series by Ted Dekker and it really reminded me of the Wormling series by Jerry B. Jenkins and Chris Fabry. The ideas and the setting seemed very, very similar, though, of course the stories had their own flair. With its Christian messages, action, and fun, I would recommend this book to readers ages ten and up.

Adventures are funny things, and they always begin with the unexpected. But the best adventures of all are the ones that never end.So Aidan Thomas learns when he is swept into the adventure of a lifetime. When his parents decide to move from Maryland to Colorado to take care of Grampin, his grandfather, Aidan is devastated. But a series of strange events leads him to a whole new world. The Realm, land of dragons, knights, and raw adventure. Called by the King, Aidan is immediately whisked into adventure after adventure as the knights faithful to the one true king attempt to defeat the evil Paragor.Between rigorous training, lethal treachery, moonrascal tunnels, and thrilling battles, unlikely hero Aidan learns of King Eliam and sacrificial love.Wayne Thomas Batsons debut novel is an exciting fantasy story full of truth, laughter, and adventure. You are never alone.

I absolute loved this book. But that wont help anyone considering buying it, no? It starts out with an average high school guy, named Aidan, having to move away from his home, leaving his only friend in the world behind. And he- well he is just plain mad. Who wouldnt be? Having to move all the way across the country for his GRAMPA. But through some strange events, and an extraordinary story, he finds his way into a different world. In that other world he finds people who expect him to become a knight, in just a week. And they are relying on him to find a way to convince a king -who looks strangely familiar- to join their side in a battle which could very likely end in disaster not only in their world, but our world also. Its a great book, but if you buy it in a book store, be careful because there are some messed up copies out. If the book says it Includes the ALL NEW LOST CHAPTERS check and make sure they are their before you buy it. The lost chapters should be between the epilogue and the acknowledgements.

A serious issue for all teens: Youre a thirteen year old, youve never been able to fit in, and just when you start to feel like youre getting more popular, more friends, all that jazz, it is torn away from you. This is the situation of Aiden Thomas. He has to move with his family to another state to have to take care of his annoying grandfather. However, things soon take a soon for the better. While bored on a summer day, he looks in the mysterious old basement of the house. Surprised to find ancient scrolls with a story on them too real to be possible. After coming to reality that the scrolls actually were true, and an amazing story is waiting for him, Aiden enters the door within and finds himself in another realm, full of knights, swords, and dragons. Soon he sets out on a mission of life and death.

Having moved away from his best friend to a different state so that his parents could take care of his grandfather, Aidan Thomas is seriously bored. In a venture down to his house's basement, Aidan comes across scrolls that seem almost too real to be fantasy. Believing it to be true, even though his parents tell him its time to leave fairytales behind he enters another world. The kingdom of Alleble. Arriving into the land he had read about, Aidan finds himself chosen as the Twelfth Knight, selected by the King himself to defend their land of Alleble against Paragor. Thats right, normal Aidan is chosen for a special mission! They leave as soon as his training is done, but will they be in time to stop Paragor?

Hang onto your hats and get ready for a great time! The Door Within is the start to a trilogy like none other. If you like fantasy, this is the story for you. While I have never been a huge fan of the fantasy genre, this book may have just won me over. I loved the descriptive writing, vivid characters and the amazing plot line. If you enjoy secular fiction, then you will enjoy this novel. If you know anything about the Bible you will immediately see the parallels in this story. Starting with King Eliam and Paragor and woven throughout the novel until the last page are references to Jesus, Satan and many other biblical figures and stories. However; this does not mean that if you have absolutely no knowledge of the Bible that you cannot enjoy this story. For those of you who find the Bible hard to relate to, this book will change your perception forever! An amazing story whether it stands alone or with the rest of its trilogy, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading!

When Aidan Thomas and his family have to move halfway across the country to care for his aging grandfather, the disgruntled teenager knows that life will never be the same. What he doesn’t know is exactly how different life will be. The discovery in the basement of mysterious scrolls with a fascinating but unfinished story leads Aidan to seek the Door Within and travel to a world of noble knights and fair maidens. In The Realm, he learns more of the story found in the scrolls and faces the choice that will define his life forever—follow King Eliam or Paragor the Usurper. Some of the characters are rather broadly drawn so that they seem rather exaggerated and thus unrealistic, but they are delightful nonetheless. Captain Valithor, Sentinel of Alleble, employs hilarious adjectives as he urges those in his charge to work harder. One fun thing about the characthers is the way their build and temperaments tend to mirror their weapons. Archer brothers Nock and Bolt are slight and quick, while hammer-wielding Mallik is built like a rock. In this adventurous tale full of truth and treachery, rambunctious and hilarious characters, Aidan learns what it means to never be alone. Though written for Junior High and early High Schoolers, the story contains enough depth to satisfy an older reader while remaining simple enough for children many years younger. “The Door Within” is sure to delight any reader of adventure and fantasy.

Door Within The Door Within starts us on a three part adventure that takes us into our memories and our imaginations. The characters are so dynamic and well articulated, you can't help to hope to meet them some day. Encapsulating an awesome message that takes place in this wonderful and beautifully crafted world. We begin by embarking with Aidin on an adventure that will pull him out or our world, and you will be thrilled as you go with him. He must endure a struggle within himself and against the villain Paragory. This book will take you up and down, and everywhere in between. It is a well written exciting adventure for middle aged children and up.

Incredible book! Mr. Batson, with his simple, yet fast-paced writing style, knows how to spin an amazing tale! Whipped half to death, a teen wakes on an island with no memory of who he is and how he got there. A pouch he clutches holds a shock of hair, a small cross, and a rare green diamond pirates would kill for (and do). Declan Ross, captain of the Wallace, and later the Bruce (and what a battle it was!), wants to free himself and his somewhat annoying and headstrong daughter Anne from the piracy business forever. But when he crosses with the notorious, blood-thirsty pirate Bartholomew Thorne, things get ugly for him and a friendly order of monks... who hold the last (um... maybe not) map to the long lost treasure of Constantine located on the volcanic Isle of Swords. 115% percent, absolutely incredible!

The Door Within is the first in a trilogy of fantasy books for middle-age readers. If your kids are fans of C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia, they (and maybe even you) will probably love these books as well. The story is not too hard to follow, but is still masterfully woven together. The characters are very lovable and reading about their friendly antics is quite entertaining. It has great moral lessons and doesn't include the inappropriate material other books in this age group may have. The spiritual undertones in the book can be very much appreciated by believers, and maybe get unbelievers asking questions about God. This book is a wonderful fantasy tale that's perfect for kids from middle school to adult!
