Sara's Son

by Quinn, Tara Taylor

Sara Calhoun has a perfectly orchestrated life. Until she opens her door one morning to come face-to-face with Ryan, the son she'd loved--and given up for adoption twenty-one years ago. Sara's memory of the night Ryan was conceived is virtually nonexistent, but the aftermath continues to haunt her. Three men went to jail after that night, but were they guilty? And which one is her son's father? Ryan, now a police officer, believes the case is rife with inconsistencies, but the only man who can help them uncover the truth is Mark Dalton--one of the accused. Still, Sara can't believe she feels so--secure with Mark. He's an enigma and her worst nightmare, isn't he?Or maybe not--

3.5 stars Sara's Son is the fifteenth stand-alone book by American author, Tara Taylor Quinn. At sixteen, daughter of Sheriff John Lindsay, Sara rebelled against her father's authority by attending a frat party. She claimed she was twenty-one, drank a lot and was found naked and bruised: tests proved that she had been raped by three frat boys.

Sara Callhoun was surprised that, twenty-one years after giving him up for adoption, her son arrived on her doorstep. But that wasn't the only surprise: this handsome young man was now a dedicated policeman, and he was investigating circumstances surrounding his conception. Not quite what Sara thought: three men had gone to jail for statutory rape, although no-one could remember exactly what happened. But Ryan believed that the rape case was a fabrication meant to distract from a murder.

Mark Dalton has served his time in prison and is gainfully employed as a mechanic. As a registered sex offender, his movements are limited, but he manages to help his sister and her son out on a regular basis. He is stunned when the beautiful woman calling at his door turns out to be Sara Lindsay, and even more shocked by the reason for her visit, but determined to help out any way he can.

As a romantic intrigue novel, it is heavy on the intrigue, and a bit slow moving, but still has a few twists and red herrings to keep the pages turning. Quinn gives the reader an admirable hero, a strong-willed heroine and a happy ever after ending.
