About This Item
Small quarto (9 3/4 X 6 1/2 inches) Santa Ana, California: The Fine Arts Press, 1934. First Edition. [i-xvi], i-vi, 1-[80] pages, 30 plates on 16 leaves, double map, index, one of 500 copies, hardcover, dark brown cloth with a quarter bound beige cloth spine, title stamped in gold on the backstrip, top and bottom edges trimmed, fore edges untrimmed.
According to "Thomas E. Williams & The Fine Arts Press" by Richard D. Curtiss, "The advance notice for this book indicates 500 copies printed, whereas a print out by the publisher indicates only 400 copies printed. The former is believed to be the correct number of copies printed."
Very good condition (small, discreet inked name of a previous owner on front fly leaf; covers and spine slightly aged toned, some pages uncut.)
An exploration of the Southwest missions established by Padre Kino, presented in a fine press edition. "In this book it is my purpose to direct the traveler to every location where Kino erected a church."
