About This Item
Carbondale/Edwardsville: Southern Illinois University Press. Fine in Fine dj. First Edition. Hardcover. [a lovely, clean copy, with no discernible wear to either book or jacket]. A biography, by their nephew, of the husband-and-wife writing team whose 34-year collaboration brought forth (as the book's title has it) both "stage and screen classics," among the latter being THE THIN MAN, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, EASTER PARADE, and SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS. The couple "were known for their wit and high spirits, for the pleasure of their Bel Air dinner parties, and for their modesty and integrity, They waged memorable battles with their powerful bosses and were key activists in the stressful creation of the Screen Writers Guild." .
