About This Item
New York: Alexis Gregory & Grolier Enterprises. Near Fine. 1971. Hardcover. This is a very pretty book containing works by three Nobel Prize winners: William Faulkner (A Rose for Emily, and As I Lay Dying), Eugene O'Neill (The Emperor Jones, and Homecoming), and John Steinbeck (In Dubious Battle). It includes the Nobel presentation speech, the authors' acceptance speeches, representation of their works, and biographies of each. Bound in navy blue leather with gilt spine and cover lettering and decorations, all edges are gilt with a purple silk ribbon. I believe that about 20 volumes were issued in this series in the 1970's. ; 3 Portaits; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 375 pages .
