Very good. 2 vols. 326 & 373 pages. 24 x 15 cm, two tinted lithographed frontispieces, five folding maps and plans, and a host of plates and woodcuts in the text. Index. BLACKMER 968. The author, English archaeologist whose excavations greatly increased knowledge of the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, and also made him quite wealthy. Binding firm and fresh with gilt front cover decoration bright. Text and maps generally clean, a few plates with toning at margins, rubbing to backstrip extremities. Host of publisher adverts end of Vol. I.
