Green cloth, stained front panel, worn on all extremities. 8" X 5". 326 pages. A prize book inscription dated Feb. 18, 1899. Inside the front cover, pasted on the first pastedown is a photo, presumed of the author and a partial label from a school for girls in Hale Springs, Ala(bama). Also there is a ink stamp from sales in M.A.. (Reason for writing)...is to awake, if necessary, an interest in my subject, and to stimulate my readers to go further in the study of character afforded by the literature of the eighteenth century." - Preface. ; 8vo .
