'She was one of the earliest European naturalists to document observations about insects directly.' (wikipedia dot com) Her lifelong study of insects and incorporation of the various stages of insect development into her illustrations established that insects had life cycles and dislodged the early idea that bugs were created from spontaneous generation.
This magnificent facsimile is taken from the original collection at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague. The 60 magnificent illustrations showing exotic insects, in their habitat with the original descriptions. The reissue is the same size as the original, published in 1705.
Folio, 200pp, illustrated boards, in the publisher's slipcase. Fine in slipcase with bump on front corner.
