Boston: William F. Gill and Company, 1875. First Edition. Full Leather. Near Fine binding. The leatherbound edition, containing the first appearance of Mark Twain's story "An Encounter with the Interviewer" [BAL 3363]. This printing is the Welch, Bigelow with the printer's device on the copyright page; it is the first of two printings noted in the BAL. A beautiful copy in full brown morocco with elaborate blocking in blind, and the lotos leaves decoration blocked in gold; raised bands with decorations in blind, and titling in gold; dentelles; all edges gilt. (BAL 3363). Near Fine binding.
