Blue boards and spine with bright silver lettering on the spine. Blue endpapers. 256 pp 4to. In 1897 Jane's was the first authoritative encyclopedia of warships of all nations. It continued to be so through most of the 20th Century. It was interrupted during the World Wars, but its pages still recorded the enormous developments in naval technology. This book shows how naval warship design developed from the latter days of the Victorian navy to the nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers that dominate today. A clean very presentable copy.
