Hong Kong: Hibiya, 1976. Limited edition. SIGNED. A text volume and a plate volume. Folio [40 cm] Blue cloth over boards. Both the books and the dust jackets are in very good plus condition. There is a previous owner's blind stamp on the limitation page. The pages of the plate volume are periodically lightly foxed. In a chemise and slipcase. The chemise, in good condition only, has a number of light stains, and has long splits to the edges at the head and foot. The slipcase has general light soiling, and some peeling to the paper at the edges.A couple of the edges of the case have been glued. Publisher's notes tucked in. A work covering painted enamels on metal, glass, and porcelain. The main purpose of this work is to establish the authenticity of the group of controversial wares marked K'ang-hsi yü chih and to illustrate that much of the finest enameled porcelain from the eighteenth century was decorated within the palace at Peking.
An important addition to Western scholarship in the field of Ch'ing porcelain. Number 746 in an edition limited to 1000. Signed by Hugh Moss on the limitation page.
