Hardcover, original 1881 publication, not a modern reprint. Decorated paper covered boards have good color but there is some light scuffing to the shine. The biggest issue with the exterior is the wear on the edges and corners (the worst being the bottom) and corners are a bit rounded. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Dark bluish-green end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no signatures, etc. The only issue with the pages is the last free end page. which has a small area of the lower outside corner removed and there is some pulling at page 48. Last free end page also has a few diagonal creases present. The pages are of the heavy card stock paper and do show toning with a few scattered smudge marks. An attractive copy considering its age.

Nd. but there is an ownership inscription dated 1886 and a previous owner has written "[1885]" in pencil as the date of the book. The book bears the bookplate of Eric Quayle (who wrote "The Collectors' Book of Children's Books"). A good copy with some browning/foxing affecting mainly the first and last few pages. The boards are worn at the edges. 48 pages with charming colour illustrations by the author on each page.

Fantastic color illustrations by Waugh on every page with accompanying verses relating to aspects of a child's life. Poems are such things as "Christmas Morning", "On the Beach", many relating to games, also discovery of nature, et. al. Binding tight. Some shelfwear but pictorial cover, both front and back, vibrant. Interior has scattered light soilage to pages but overall still a beautiful copy.
