The second edition of this two-volume work in the publisher's original cloth bindings. Illustrated with 21 plates to Volume I and 20 plates to Volume II. Collated, complete. A sociological and anthropological exploration into England in the 18th century. Volume one contains essays on: town life, dress and costume, amusements and pastimes, gambling and dueling, and war. Volume two contains essays on: roads and travelling, education, the literary world, the political world, the criminal code, the religious world, and weddings. Written by William Connor Sydney, an English journalist, schoolmaster and preacher. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally smart, except for some very light shelf wear to the boards and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright but with the odd scattering of spots throughout. Very Good
