About This Item
London: Longmans, Green and Co, 1899. 4th edition, (1st-18590 . Black Cloth. VG for age/No Jacket (none issued). 14.5 Cm x 23 Cm. xxxii+605+(1, author list); light tanning to outer sides of endpapers, faint 1922-dated pencil signature to front pastedown, easily eraseable, otherwise internally clean, tight and quite unmarked, covers generally clean and unworn but a few very small white and brown marks of little significance and a longer fairly faint brownish line towards top back, small hints of rubbing to spine ends, generally an excellent copy of the final edition of this classic work. Although the text remains virtually identical to that of the 1875 3rd edition Bain adds a brief Preface indicating where his post-1875 revised thoughts might be found plus a single page 'Addenda' specifying these more precisely in relation to particular pages. This edition appears to be somewhat scarcer than its predecessors. Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
