About This Item
20 x 20 cm-An unmarked copy." "People said, `You should write a book,' " admits 50-year-old Bob Robertson. "But we're great procrastinators so it took a while for us to get round to it." The 95-page epistle features new "non-radio" Double Exposure bits. These take the form of multiple-choice questions, such as: "Alan Thicke got his name because of: a) his parents; b) his I.Q.; or c) he didn't like his real name, Alan Idiot." There are also plenty of spoof political memos, like liberal MP Roseanne Skokes' open letter to the caucus, which begins "My fellow Liberals, as you are all no doubt aware by now, I am the heavenly conscience of the Liberal Party of Canada, and I want to alert you, once more, to the fact that all homosexuals are bad. As the takeover becomes complete, they're going to force us to go to Broadway musicals, and call each other darling." The challenge that faced Double Exposure, who are best known as spot-on mimics, was how best to translate their aural humor to the bare page. The solution, according to Robertson, was to include plenty of visual gags. Double Exposure is chock-full of Canadian Press photographs. These pics are cut with punchlines (e.g., Jean Chretien as "Pea Souperman"). Double Exposure's book is a definite cut above most "comedy" books."
