Description:
This small paperbound volume was produced in 1939 by the North American Life Assurance Co. in preparation for the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada. As noted in the forward, this was the first time "a reigning monarch of our Empire comes to visit his people in this Dominion beyond the sea, and our neighbours in the United States of America. In anticipation of this, this small booklet provides an account of other visits of the members of the royal family to North American shores, beginning pre-confederation with the visit of the Duke of Kent in 1787 and concluding with the visit of Edward, Prince of Wales in 1919.
Paperbound with staples, this volume is in very good condition, particularly given its age. There is only a small tear to the bottom corner of the front cover. Of interest in particular is the reference to and small line portrait of the then Princess Elizabeth, later to become Queen Elizabeth II.
