Description:
Wally F. Galleries, 1972. Wraps. Very Good. A 2" tear to cover. Color reproductions; 8 pages; A scarce exhibition catalog. "The compositions, executed as projects for some of his notable murals, stained glass windows, sculpture and large paintings, are being exhibited in the United States for the first time". Joseph Fernand Henri Léger (French: [leÃâe]; February 4, 1881 ââ¬â August 17, 1955) was a French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker. In his early works he created a personal form of cubism (known as "tubism") which he gradually modified into a more figurative, populist style. His boldly simplified treatment of modern subject matter has caused him to be regarded as a forerunner of pop art.

Clarke Industries, 1977. Softcover. Like New. A softcover pamphlet, 24pp; staple-bound. Ohkay Owingeh artist Regina Albarado de Cata was one of the original seven or eight potters in the 1930s San Juan Revival. Cata organized the San Juan Crafts Club and led field trips to archeological sites, such as the 15th century site Potsuwi'i, on Pajarito Plateau where they studied the incised designs on polychrome redware. While she helped to begin the 1930âs pottery revival, she is better known for her cloth dolls than her pottery. In 1936 she began to work alone on her dolls and clay busts. From 1940-60, her dolls could be found in a variety of museum exhibitions. She had an exhibition of them in 1961 in Washington DC.

Description:
Collins, 1990. Hard cover. Like New/Good. Lynch, Patrick James. William Butler Yeats (13 June 1865 28 January 1939) was an Irish poet, dramatist, prose writer and one of the foremost figures of 20th-century literature. A pillar of the Irish literary establishment, he helped to found the Abbey Theatre, and in his later years served two terms as a Senator of the Irish Free State. He was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival along with Lady Gregory, Edward Martyn and others. Yeats is considered one of the key twentieth-century English-language poets. He was a Symbolist poet, using allusive imagery and symbolic structures throughout his career. He chose words and assembled them so that, in addition to a particular meaning, they suggest abstract thoughts that may seem more significant and resonant. His use of symbols is usually something physical that is both itself and a suggestion of other, perhaps immaterial, timeless qualities.

Description:
Houghton Mifflin, 2008. Hard cover. Like New/Fine. 8x5x1. With brief gift inscription by previous owner. What is so compelling about falconry? Tim Gallagher mines his lifelong obsession with falcons for an answer in this engaging volume interweaving memoir, history, and travelogue. An entire subculture of the sport exists outside the mainstream of American society, consisting of obsessed individuals who still use the ancient training techniques and language of falconry. Gallagher finds that his personal story connects on many levels with that of Frederick II, the thirteenth-century Holy Roman Emperor, legendary falconer, and notorious freethinker who brought the full wrath of the medieval Church down upon his dynasty. While following in Frederickâs footsteps through southern Italy, Gallagher ponders his own history as well. What salve to his spirit did falconry provide when it ignited his passion at age twelve? Beset by a turbulent childhood dominated by a brutal and violent…

Description:
Doubleday Books, 1998. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 6x1x9. In the tradition of the wildly popular man-versus-nature genre that has launched several bestsellers, Andrew Todhunter follows the lives of world-class climber Dan Osman and his coterie of friends as he explores the extremes of risk on the unyielding surface of the rock.Climbing sheer rock faces of hundreds or thousands of feet is more a religion than a sport, demanding dedication, patience, mental and physical strength, grace, and a kind of obsession with detail that is crucial just to survive. Its artists are modern-day ascetics who often sacrifice nine-to-five jobs, material goods, and the safety of everyday life to pit themselves and their moral resoluteness against an utterly unforgiving opponent.

Yale University Press, 2010. Softcover. Like New. 7x1x10. The first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa teammate Tenzing Norgay is a familiar saga, but less well known are the tales of many other adventurers who also came to test their skills and courage against the worldâs highest and most dangerous mountains. In this lively and generously illustrated book, historians Maurice Isserman and Stewart Weaver present the first comprehensive history of Himalayan mountaineering in fifty years. They offer detailed, original accounts of the most significant climbs since the 1890s, and they compellingly evoke the social and cultural worlds that gave rise to those expeditions. The book recounts the adventures of such figures as Martin Conway, who led the first authentic Himalayan climbing expedition in 1892; Fanny Bullock Workman, the pioneer explorer of the Karakoram range; George Mallory, the romantic martyr of Mount Everest fame; Charlie Houston,…
