A very nice contemporary lithograph of this famous celebration at the conclusion of the Spanish-American War. When the armored cruiser New York (ACR-02), the flagship of Rear Admiral Sampson; the armored cruiser Brooklyn (ACR-3), the flagship of Rear Admiral Schley; the battleships Massachusetts (BB-02), Oregon (BB-03), Iowa (BB-04), Indiana (BB-01) and Texas began their parade through New York Bay and up the North River, they were surrounded by a numerous excursion boats and tugs. The ships (battle scarred from the Battle of Santiago de Cuba) were decked with bunting and when the fleet reached Grant's tomb, the guns that spoke at Santiago were again heard in a grand national salute of 21 guns.

St. Alphonsus Ligouri (1696-1787) organized the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists), devoted to mission work, in 1732.
