Description:
London: Michael Joseph, (1959-1975). First editions, first printings. These are very near fine copies. Billy Liar's wrapper, designed by William Belcher, has some light handling marks to both panels and very light shelf wear. It has not been price clipped (13s 6d net) and is free from inscriptions. The text blocks are immaculate. Billy Liar on the Moon has very little wear to note, aside from some slight shelf wear. It is a touch sunned at the spine and has not been price clipped (£3.00 net). The author's signature is flat signed in black ink to the full title page. It is free from additional inscriptions and the text blocks are bright and white throughout. A very near fine pair. The semi-comical story is about William Fisher, a working-class 19-year-old living with his parents in the fictional town of Stradhoughton in Yorkshire. Bored by his job as a lowly clerk for an undertaker, Billy spends his time indulging in fantasies and dreams of life in the big city as a comedy writer. The sequel is a…

Description:
London: Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1957. First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper has several closed tears at the spine and is toned in both panels. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 21/- net price. The boards are slightly sunned at the spine and with some surface toning to both panels. The text blocks are toned, possibly due to poor paper stock, though are not foxed. The author's signature is present on the front fly, inscribed in blue ink, reading: 'For Rossy & Mike, warm regards – and hopes of seeing them soon. Colin. 24 Aug 64.' This is a very good copy overall.

Description:
London: Covent Garden Press, (1973). First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, designed by Peter Juerges, is in admirable condition with only slight edgewear and handling marks to note. There is, however, one closed tear to the rear panel. It has not been price clipped. The boards are sharp in the publisher's cloth, with the black embossed lettering in the centre. There is an area of ghosting, ironically from the presence of the archival wrap. The author's signature is flat signed to the front free-endpaper in blue ink. The internals and text blocks are clean. This is number 10 of 600 printed. This is a near fine copy.Colin Wilson assesses J. R. R. Tolkien as a writer and a thinker.

Description:
London: The Hogarth Press, (1953). Proof copy. This is a very good copy. Issued in limp brown wraps, it is presumably missing its proof wrapper. Due to the absence of additional pre-publication information, this is assumed to be a trial print. With the white label to the front panel, indicating the title which is underlined in red. The text blocks are immaculate and the internals free from inscriptions. There is a slight area of loss at the tail of the spine. A unique item, one which has not been seen on the market in recent times. In very good condition.Said to be the sequel to After the Deluge and is a study of communal psychology.
