Description:
Extremely rare first edition of Jacob Meyers Geometria Practica, sive, Planimetria, complete with the fold-out. Our copy (please see images) has been severly burned on the back cover (vellum damaged and partly missing) - with surprisingly little impact on the inside of the book which shows age-appropriate browning but no signs of burn.Numerous geometrical images. Printed by Johannes Rudolph Genath. Coat of arms ex libris with the initials "OGHZS" (Otto Gall Herr zu Stubenberg; 1631-1688). See the copy of Universitätsbibliothek Basel here: https://doi.org/10.3931/e-rara-65110A beautiful example of the first refinement of the recording methods of land use, documenting the demarcation of sovereign power and private use. The book shows a large number of precise calculation methods (mathematical geodesy).
