Description:
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1990. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. David Macaulay. An illustrated picture book, winner of the 1991 Caldecott Medal. First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with some tanning to the white spine. Caldecott Medal sticker on the front cover. Very nicely inscribed with a drawing of a burglar to Stephen Jay Gould, referencing Gould's love of baseball: "February 25, 1992, to Stephen Jay Gould [drawing] Crime pays but not in baseball. David Macaulay." Gould was one of the leading evolutionary theorisst of his era, a popular science writer, and a big baseball fan.

Description:
Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. The 13th Travis McGee and the first in the series that was issued first in hardcover. 287 pages. First edition (stated). A near fine hardcover copy (page edges tanned) in a price-clipped dust jacket with minor chipping at the edges and small tape repairs on the back (verso). According to Firsts Magazine (Nov. 2002), almost all copies of the first printing dust jacket are price-clipped, probably because the price was incorrectly printed on the jacket. The first printing jackets have the code 1073 at the top of the front flap of the jacket, as this copy has. NB: The fourth printing jackets also have this code, but were not price-clipped. It is hard to tell a married 4th printing jacket from the correct first printing jackets. However, this copy is very neatly clipped, probably by a machine, which suggests it is likely the jacket that originally came on this first printing.

Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. The hardcover version of the 7th Travis McGee novel, "the most difficult of all [Lippincott's] McGees to find" (Firsts Magazine, Nov. 2002). The novel was first published in paperback in 1966 and then in hardcover in the UK in 1967; this is the first American hardcover edition. First edition (first printing, with no indication of later printing). Mild spine lean; large Marine Barracks stamp on the front pastedown, thus very good in a spine-faded dust jacket with a number of tears and snags. The jacket is the first printing jacket, priced at $4.95 with the 470 code at the top of the front flap. A decent copy of a book that is hard to find in nice condition.

Description:
Philadelphia and New York: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1978. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. Travis McGee no. 17. According to Firsts magazine (November 2002), "The Empty Copper Sea is considered by many series aficionados to be the best of them all." First edition (first printing). Slight spine slant, probably from a careful reading, in a very good dust jacket with wear to the flap joints and spine ends, where the cover ink has worn away. This copy does not have the code HB10H on the last page-there is no known priority for copies with or without the code; it may indicate that two printers were employed for this book. This copy is nicely inscribed, "For Harry & Edith, all the best. John D MacDonald 28 Aug '78. Piseco, N.Y. * - Note the dedication." The dedication is to memories of two cruise ships. MacDonald had a house at Piseco Lake and this novel was published about the third week of August 1978 (based on when newspaper reviews began appearing). Thus it seems likely that the…
