A newsheet insert or separate broadside publication, printed one side only; approx.16 1/2" h. x 23" w., about a 1" margin surround; portraits of the British political worthies of the time; Japanese characters at top and bottom margins, with title in English as well; appears to be a lithographic process; corners mounted to a larger paper sheet; edges with some wear and tear, a few old reinforcements at edges; a little darkened, one 1/2" chip at bottom edge; overall, good condition and an interesting piece of British political ephemera from Asia.. Hokkaido Japan, 1945. 9 Black and white photographs, no photographer or studio credited, no date however most probably circa 1945, at the time of the U.S. occupation after the Second World War; approx. 4" x 6" format; images show male and female workers, some in local costume, kimono and coolie hats, clearing snow from tracks and buildings, constructing pathways between structures and generally working diligently to move tons of snow by hand; snow is halfway up the telephone poles and absolutely covers some buildings completely, the snow easily reaching to second stories on buildings in the village shown; one building looks like there is approximately 10 feet of snow on top of it, being steadily shoveled off in layers; some edge, tips wear and a little creasing to the photo edges, one image with an old inkblot; generally well-enough taken and interesting photographs in good condition. Very Good.

Fuji, Nozawaya; artists Shigehiko, Hiruma; mostly color, one black and white card; some wear and rubbing to edges, some postal cancellations, a few notes; overall, in good condition and an interesting ephemeral group depicting this Japanese advertizing venue of the time.. Very Good.

Toulon, France: Not Published, 1857. Two letters, one dated 1857 and both addressing Robert, with his first & last name written in full across the text on one of the pages. Written in very formal English, as perhaps translated from a very formal French (reference to the use of a translator is made within the letters). Mostly with family news with interesting asides: cousin Eugene constructing a bridge in the Pyrenees "...where the rocks it appears are immensely high. Napoleon who was with him at the time, made a plan and had a mind to make this bridge as he said, after the American way but Eugene told him that a bridge of wood, would soon get destroyed. Napoleon then told him to make a plan which he did which has been sent to Paris and has been adopted by the Minister and company; the bridge will be made of hewn stones..."
