Germany, Europe: Keystone View Co., 1920. Black and white glass plate negative, approx. 6 1/2" x 7" size. Not dated, circa 1920. Remains of old paper envelope with penciled identification, "Conditions in Germany Eight Children of Berlin, Germany, sleeping in one room, on a bed made of a broken bedstead, a mattress a stool and a chair. This is typical of the present conditions existing in Germany." With the remains of the original Keystone paper mailing envelope. Plate broken, with about 20% chipped away and lost, at right margin. We have photographed this using a light-box and then inverted the image to give a positive. In fair condition.. Photograph. Not Bound. Fair.

Roche, in front of his tent (nameplate visible above entranceway); the other image of uniformed soldier with family in front of his tent; both very well-taken and professional; no photographer noted; light wear, little chipping to mount edges; little shadows from old stickers at corners of mounts; very good condition.. United Kingdom: Not Published, 1940. Original work of art, depicting a free-standing, glass-windowed 8-sided reception or ticket booth for the ice-skating rink, with an art-deco 'look' - rounded glass panes, stylized skater motif on booth panel; executed in colored pencils; identified below the image "Suggestion for Pay Box. Richmond Ice Rink"; not signed; on 11" x 15" size paper, the image with a curved framing surround in soft chalk, giving an airbrushed background effect; an interesting design for this popular ice skating facility built in Clevedon Road, Twickenham which was closed and demolished in 1992, now the site of luxury apartments in this area in England; we speculate this artwork may have been submitted during one of the re-designs of the interior of the facility. . Some of these are of U.S. military, with a few of camp, man with machine gun, more, a couple with a faint photographer's studio imprint in Melbourne Florida and a few taken when on leave in Italy; some candid family portraiture, children, dogs, folks at home, frolicking at the beach, a first communion, other memorable moments in their lives; average size about 3" x 4 ½", with some smaller, some larger; mostly black & white; a few color, done professionally & colorized; some loosely corner-mounted on old black paper album pages; some aging and wear, most in very good condition.. Clark; bound in full contemporary polished tree-calf leather; spine with gilt decorations; much edge, tips wear, rubbing to boards, worn, binding split in half; lacks title label on spine; no front free blank endpaper; portraits darkened, with the tissue guard of Anna Matilda having a tracing of the figure in line; some foxing, soil and discoloration of leaves; in good condition.. New York: Underwood Image depicts several gentlemen standing in front of a a wooden-frame oil rig, several others in background; back of mount gives a couple of paragraphs of information regarding the history of the site, more; "...Nobody began to realize the immense importance and value of such natural resources...In 1859 the first great 'strike' was made, oil being reached only 69 feet below the surface...the beginning of one of the most exciting 'booms' in American Industrial history..."; photographer identifier at side of mount, not dated, title on back in six languages; earlier, 'split-image' type of view, two separate photos; a couple of identifying numbers: a large "S 127" at top right; the number 5535 is at the title bar position at the bottom of the right-hand image; light wear to card tips, edges; very good condition.. A group of 5 larger-format (approx. 5" x 7") black and white professional photographs: interior view of an open log-built dining hall; woodland path and river scene; two sides of a river, hillside floral abundance, canoe in mid-ground; a view of a large cabin structure, stone fireplaces, woman seated on porch, boat oars propped at front; boathouse with long canoes at landing and launch, with (crudely) "Palisade Interstate park" written in the plate; dated on back of photos Summer 1921-22; with the photographic studio stamp of The Depp Studio Highland Falls N.Y. and a couple with an additional stamp for Palisades Interstate Park, and the name Kramer in pencil; light edgewear to photos; 3 in a glossy finish, one semi-gloss, one in a matte finish; with old impress around edges (for cropping?); very good condition and evocative of the beauty of these parklands in the early part of the 20th century, well done.. Very Good.

Meadville PA: Keystone View Company, 1897. Image: # 2501 The Rope Bridge Carrick-A-Rede Ireland. (On back): "This rude but novel structure, connecting the island of Carric-A-Rede with the mainland, spans a chasm 100 feet deep and 60 feet wide. It is four feet wide and consists of two cable on which planks are lashed."; a little wear and darkening to the mount card; very good condition.. Very Good. Illus. by B.L. Singley.

A Stereoview image of a building on Blackwell's Island of New York City, showing a field in front of one of the 3-story large buildings on the island at the time, long run of double-story shaded portico; few folks visible in the arcade; does not appear to be part of the prison (no bars on windows) or the smallpox hospital - perhaps an asylum of another kind; no date but circa 1870s; good, fairly clear & detailed image; some edge, tips wear & soiling to mount card corners chipped away; seemingly quickly and cheaply printed, with the mount card unevenly trimmed at top; with the Continent Co. identifiers on front edge; printed on the other edge with "Discriptive (sic) Views of the American Continent"; overall good condition and a good 19th century New York City photographic stereoview of an unusual subject, not a tourist area. .
