Some corners and spine tips missing small pieces and bottom spine bumped (including adjacent area of pages) . Back cover fold has separated and is attached lightly inside. Page block is darkened and has tiny spots. Minor foxing of pages, 2 short black marks on one page, small triangular chip missing from one page edge (not interfering with photograph) , Tightly bound, little read. .

Arnold Zweig (1887-1968), wurde als Sohn eines in der zionistischen Bewegung aktiven Juden geboren. Als Mitarbeiter der Presseabteilung des Oberbefehlshabers Ost kam er in Kontakt mit dem Ostjudentum, das einen bleibenden Eindruck bei ihm erweckte. In der Weimarer Republik führte ihn sein Weg in die Nähe des Zionismus. 1933 wurden Arnold Zweigs Bücher Opfer der nationalsozialistischen Bücherverbrennungen. Er mußte Deutschland verlassen und ließ sich schließlich in Haifa nieder.
