Sven Hedin, (1865-1952), Swedish traveller and geophysicist, he was a relative of Humbolt, whose precision and lyricism he shared. A considerable account of his travels and discoveries, the present title, covers three and a half years exploration in the deserts of Takla Makan and the Lobnor region, Tsaidam and Southern Tibet from 1893 to 1897. Hedin's books are popular and remain highly regarded.
