Kenneth Patchen is one of those unclassifiable writers--his poetry and prose have a wild kind of purity to them that is hard to explain or ignore. Patchen is a fabulist, a humorist (in a some what dark vein), a surrealist, and a dedicated experimentalist who refuses to be categorized.
