Tutt's ownership signature to half title, dated 1889; also inscribed to second half-title, bound at rear, 'J.W. Tutt from the author'. James William Tutt (1858-1911) was an English lepidopterist. He was founding editor of the journal <i>Entomologists' Record</i> in 1890 and published a number of books on British Lepidoptera.. Including their Transformations and Origins of the Larval Markings and Armature. Plates illustrate adults (7 b/w & 1 col), larvae (30 fine chromolithographs), wing venations, etc. (11 b/w).<i>Memoirs of the National Academy of Sciencies</i> Vol. VIII..
