Description:
NY: DC Comics. VG lg sz PB. 1988/89. Moore writes, I began "V for Vendetta" in the summer of 1981 during a working holiday on the Isle of Wright. I finished in . the winter of 1988, five years after a gap in publishing in England's Warrior Magazine, its original home. This represents my first attempt begun at the outset of my caraeer. I trust you'll bear with us during any initial clumsiness, and share our opinion it was for the best to show the early episodes unrevised, warts and all, rather than go back and eradicate all trace of youthful creative inexperience. It represents my first attempt and shows a certain amount of political inexperience. Back in 1981 the term "nuclear winter" had not passed into common currency and suggests that a nuclear war, even a limited one, might be survivable. To the best of my current knowledge, this is not the case. .

Description:
New York: DC Comics, 1990. First hardcover edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. This is the first hardcover issue of Moore and Lloyd's influential graphic novel, published by the Book of the Month Club (the commercially published version was a paperback). This is one of the most significant graphic novels of the 1980s, written beginning in 1981 as a response to Thatcherism in the United Kingdom. Its inspiration, Guy Fawkes, allowed Moore to explore themes of political repression and anarchism, unusual topics for comics and graphic novels at the time. This is the only edition of V for Vendetta in hardcover format until the 2005 movie tie-in edition. 286 pages. First hardcover edition (stated "First Printing" on the copyright page with a paper label identifying the printer as Ronalds Printing; the name of the printer of the paperback edition is blacked out, as issued). A fine hardcover copy in a very near fine dust jacket with a tiny chip missing from the rear flap fold. Very scarce.
