1985. Very Good +. 1. Unpublished manuscript by Herbert Kubly, ca. 1945, set around Pittsburgh artists and the art scene, approx. 300 pages, single-sided on thin typing paper. Not quite fiction, the manuscript seems to surround the narrative of Dick Murray, a Carnegie native serving in the Armed Forces forces duing WWII, and Anne Menzl, a Pittsburgh artist and graduate of Margaret Morrison College, the ladies' college at Carnegie Tech. The manuscript is divided into sections with "Rediscovered...1964" written on the verso of the last page. At the rear of the manuscript is a love letter, dated 1944, from Murray to Menzl, referring to Menzl's recent opening and play script in which Dick's longing for Anne is poignant 2.
