Valentine & Sons, 1111. Hardcover. Acceptable. No Edition Remarks. 121 pages. No dust jacket. Grey cloth. Colour illustrated plates throughout. Binding is shaky, plate to page 64 detached but still present. Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Sticker to front pastedown. Pencil inscription to half title page. Small tears to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends with splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed.

Full crushed green morocco by Riviere with triple gilt rule borders, gilt spine and turns-ins, burgundy endpapers. Front cover needs to be rejointed. A very clean and attractive copy. The Kenyon Starling-William Self copy with both their bookplates. “Boots at the Holly-Tree Inn” was a Christmas story written for a special issue of Dickens’s Household Words, and “Mrs. Gamp” is an excerpt from Martin Chuzzlewit.
