Description:
Madison, WI: Quixote Press, 1969. First Edition. An important, early compilation of Bukowski's work, culled from the pages of little magazines and early publications; in addition to a selection of Bukowski's poetry, the Sampler contains an introduction by Douglas Blazek and appreciations by Al Purdy, Steve Richmond, William Wantling, and Don Cauble, et al. A possibly unique copy, with the text complete, but with several pages bound upside-down and out of sequence - an oddity for the seasoned collector. Dorbin A14; Krumhansl 30. First Printing, one of ca.400 copies. Small quarto (23.5cm); pictorial card wrappers, stapled; 80pp; illus. Signed by editor and contributor Douglas Blazek on the front endpaper, and additionally inscribed by him on the upper title page: "Here's one for you - an unusual copy (you'll understand as you thumb through) / Believe it to be the only one / Douglas Blazek. Trivial wear, tiny nick to wrappers at base of spine, else very Near Fine.
